As we all know, not all work in manufacturing facilities is done by machines. It’s very common for the shop floor to have a couple of CNC-machines and for the rest of the work (i.e. the assembly of parts) to be done manually.

As we all know, not all work in manufacturing facilities is done by machines. It’s very common for the shop floor to have a couple of CNC-machines and for the rest of the work (i.e. the assembly of parts) to be done manually.

Because manual work can be very time consuming and expensive, it’s also important to find its disadvantages. Knowing how much downtime happens in manual work places and why is an excellent way to improve the overall productivity of your manufacturing facility and of course, save money. In addition, knowing what products take the most time to manufacture or cause most of the problems in manufacturing is very useful.

MDCplus version 2.51 introduces feature called Workplaces. The work places feature allows you to monitor manual work places with the MDCplus Collective Monitoring Panel application (CMP). Data input is done manually by the operator of the manual workplace. The operator can register at the workplace, input reports on parts produced or work operations done according to shift task or work order and set downtime reasons in case of unexpected delays in work.
