How to use information about power consumption in Zyfra MDCplus

The Power consumption monitoring is used to collect the necessary primary information, carry out statistical reports, accumulate the obtained data and generate analytical and auxiliary reports characterizing the power consumption of enterprise units.

The Power consumption monitoring is used to collect the necessary primary information, carry out statistical reports, accumulate the obtained data and generate analytical and auxiliary reports characterizing the power consumption of enterprise units.

The use of Power consumption monitoring in combination with the large volume of software and hardware of the Zyfra MDCplus system allows analysis of energy costs and development of  ways to reduce them.

MDCplus system records the time when the product is working, the downtime and the reason for downtime for each machine during production. As a result, it is possible to monitor and classify power consumption by:

• the main equipment states: “Production” and “Downtime”

• groups of downtime reasons

• downtime reasons of each group

 

Examples of use cases

  1. In general, it can be useful to know how much power is consumed by machines when you are looking at energy reports for the whole company. It can also be useful to see how much the company is spending on energy used by the production.
  2. Because you receive information about power consumption indicators when the machine is idle, you can calculate how much money you could save if operators turned machines off when extended idle time is expected.
  3. In some cases when an old legacy machine is connected to MDCplus, it might not be possible to get the Work by program (WBP) state from the machine connection. It is then possible to use power consumption parameters to create the WBP state and produce an estimate about machining time.
  4. Surges and dips in power supply are also recorded. This can help you to find reasons for problems in production. For example, program activation of the cooling device or compressor while the machine is working can create problems if only one phase is used for the machine.
