The new plugin changes how downtime reasons behave in MDCplus helping the machine operators to concentrate better on their work.

How does it work?

Normally the downtime reason starts from the moment that operator registers the downtime reason with TVV-10, CMP application or mobile application. That means that you will always get a period of unregulated downtime unless the downtime reason is given before the downtime state becomes active. Sometimes this isn’t the optimal way to record downtime reasons.

Downtime reason, normal functionality

For example. A problem that is not related to the machine might occur in some other part of the production chain and the operator needs to solve the problem right away. While the operator is gone, the downtime state becomes active and unregulated downtime will be recorded until the operator gives the downtime reason. If those kinds of things happen regularly, the downtime related reports will show data that doesn’t represent reality of the situation because there always is a reason for the downtime, but only small part of the downtime will be recorded with a reason. And this is where the new plugin comes in.

The new plugin applies downtime reason for the whole downtime period including the period of unregulated downtime that happened before the downtime reason was given. That means that no unregulated downtime will be visible in reports, unless downtime reason is not given at all for a period of downtime.

This way the plugin allows operator to complete the task in hand before adding a downtime reason and the reports will show accurate information about what really happened.
